CAS Obtains Input from Missouri and Oklahoma Cattle Producers

February 3, 2020

Custom Ag Solutions worked with the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and National Livestock of Oklahoma to conduct four January focus groups in support of CAS’ USDA/SBIR Phase I project seeking to assess the viability of a cattle marketing portal (CMP) designed to improve the marketing strategies and outcomes of small and mid-size cattle producers.

Events were held in Butler and West Plains, Missouri, and also in Durant and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The focus groups were very well attended and our local contacts did a great job of coordinating and promoting the events. Corbitt Wall, with DVAuction, attended three of the four sessions and provided an entertaining market commentary that was enjoyed by the attendees.

CAS participants included Brett Crosby, John Mangus, and Kole Swanser. Crosby explained the purpose of the CMP and then demonstrated the platform’s many features and uses. Following the demonstration, participants completed a survey instrument to provide critical feedback on the CMP platform, which is still in its early development stages.
