CAS Delivers Training at NMSU’s Indian Livestock Days

May 13, 2018

Working with New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service (NMSU CES), Custom Ag Solutions (CAS) delivered crop insurance and risk management information to livestock producers attending the 2018 Indian Livestock Days, held just west of Albuquerque, on May 9-11, 2018.  CAS’ John Mangus delivered a short presentation to 52 producers attending the annual event. CAS participated in the event as part of its 2017-2018 USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) Risk Management Education Partnership to benefit cattle producers.

Created in the 1970s and originally called All Indian Livestock School, Indian Livestock Days was established to provide New Mexico (NM) tribal members face with information and tools to better face the many production and marketing challenges of the livestock industry. The grassroots program, which serves NM Native American tribal members, is coordinated through NMSU CES.

Mangus covered a range of risk management and crop insurance topics during his presentation, which was designed to inform producers of the availability of risk management tools and strategies available to NM livestock growers. Among the tools discussed were many Federal crop insurance programs, including the Livestock Risk Protection (LRP), Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) and Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) programs.

CAS notes its long-standing partnership with NMSU CES and appreciates the work of NMSU CES and the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association (NMCGA) in providing training venues where CAS can deliver its risk management information for the benefit of New Mexico agricultural producers.
