CAS Reaches Beginning Producers at the Massachusetts FFA State Convention

CAS’ John Mangus delivered risk management and crop insurance program information to dozens of Massachusetts beginning producers attending the 88th Annual Massachusetts FFA State Convention held in Sturbridge on March 14-15, 2018.

Mangus covered a range of risk management and crop insurance topics in delivering two workshops designed to introduce beginning producers to core risk and risk management concepts and to inform producers of the availability, benefits, and limitations of Federal crop insurance programs available to Massachusetts producers.

Attendance at the convention was impacted by Massachusett’s third nor’easter over a two-week period. Despite travel difficulties, participants were enthusiastic and engaged; all expressed appreciation to Mass FFA, CAS, and USDA for coordinating the training event.

CAS recognizes the efforts of the Massachusetts FFA Association to coordinate and promote the training workshops.
